Heybe Community is developed in the open by Slovian Inc. The code is TypeScript (desktop app in Tauri + React, a local task manager on SQLite). Read it, run the tests, file issues, or send a pull request with a DCO sign-off.

Is Heybe free?
Yes. Heybe Community is free and open source under Apache-2.0. A paid Pro edition with extra features is planned; pricing is not announced.
Can I download Heybe today?
Not yet. The developer preview is in development. Join the waitlist and we will email you when it is ready.
Does my data go to the cloud?
Heybe runs on your Mac and keeps your files there. To think, it uses the AI service you pick (DeepSeek by default, or OpenAI or Claude with your own key), or a model on your own machine if you would rather stay offline.
Can I use my own OpenAI or Claude API key?
Yes. Bring your own key for OpenAI or Anthropic Claude. Keys are kept in the macOS Keychain.
Will it do things without asking?
No. Anything sensitive, like deleting files or going over budget, waits for your click. In the first version Heybe does not send emails, post, or pay for anything.
Is Heybe a Manus or ChatGPT agent alternative?
It is built for a similar job, handing off multi-step work, but it runs on your own Mac, is open source, and lets you choose the AI.
What do I need?
A Mac, Apple Silicon first. Windows is not planned for the first version. Downloads will only be offered here at heybe.dev, not on the Mac App Store.
Do I need to be technical?
No. If you can send a text message, you can use Heybe.
